Horse and human powered farming.

Horse powered.

Working with horses is endlessly interesting. They are a living connection to a sustainable agricultural tradition that we continue to honor. You don’t just pour in gas and go; they breathe and pull and sweat, so you have to use their energy wisely, minimizing soil disturbance, and making the most of every square foot of growing space. Some days we work together to make their hay, and some days they help us grow our crops. We sustain each other. The humans, the horses and the sun provide the energy that drives our farm’s ecosystem.

We love what we grow.

Quality ingredients.

A plant is only as good as the soil it’s grown in, so our focus is on building and sustaining a rich, diverse and vital soil ecosystem. There are more microorganisms in a handful of our soil than there are people on earth. It’s our job to keep them housed and fed. That’s difficult to do on a large scale, which is why we only grow 1,000 hemp plants per year. We feed the soil, the soil feeds the plants, and the plants feed us. The quality of our hemp reflects the quality of our soil. The only other ingredient in our tinctures is organic MCT coconut oil, which is the most effective oil for moving CBD into your body’s ecosystem.

Full spectrum extract.

From seed to bottle, the only time our hemp leaves our hands is when we deliver it to the laboratory where the cannabinoids are extracted from the flowers. Their technicians test to make sure there are no heavy metals, chemicals, or any other contaminants, verify the milligrams of CBD per bottle, and analyze each batch for cannabinoid content. We then send samples to a second lab to confirm the results (this is known as third-party testing). You can see all that information here.

Because soils and plants are irreducibly complex, we believe that the hundred-plus cannabinoids that hemp produces are best left intact and taken together. Researchers don’t know (and may never know) which molecules in what combinations are responsible for the relief that hemp brings people. In the meantime, we trust that hemp knows what it’s doing. To that end, we ask our lab to do the minimum amount of processing possible to give you a full-spectrum tincture — nothing more and nothing less than the whole plant.
